Mission and goals

The MeerGroen Foundation strives for a world that is in balance with our surrounding ecosystem. We do not want costs and returns to be leading, but ecological balance and pleasure in creating a greener world together.

That is why MEERGroen is involved in, among other things, ecological nature and green management, together with volunteer groups. Because the strength lies in: working together and using citizen power.

M.E.E.E.R. stands for the following values;

Social Cohesion (Maatschappelijke) : MeerGroen brings resident groups and volunteers together to manage local green spaces, with a special focus on people distanced from the labour market.

Ecological : We aim for maximum biodiversity through ecological management. We provide natural biotopes where nature can recover.

Educational: We teach volunteers and residents the principles of ecological management in process. In addition,  internships and also practical and creative training for primary school students.

Economical: We work efficiently and economically through our out-of-the-box creativity and the great intrinsic motivation and commitment of our volunteers. Together we make something beautiful.

Recreational: The R for recreation stands for the fact that it is not only the ‘plants and the animals’ that will benefit, but also the people. Who wouldn’t want to live in a beautiful green environment?

Learn by doing is our motto

Learning by doing is at the heart of our philosophy, as it allows individuals to truly engage with and appreciate the intricate and inspiring web of ecological connections that define our society. Through our projects, we strive to provide opportunities for people to acquire knowledge, gain valuable experience, enhance their perceptions, and foster a genuine affinity for the environment. We believe that by taking responsibility and actively participating, individuals can contribute to a thriving social and ecological community.
